Letters About Literature

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

 Letters About Literature is a statewide writing contest for students in grades 4-12. The program invites students to read a book of their choice, reflect on it, and write a personal letter to the author explaining how the book changed their views of the world and/or themselves. 

The three standard levels of participation are:

  • Level 1: Grades 4-6 *
  • Level 2: Grades 7-8
  • Level 3: Grades 9-12

*Note that students under the age of 13 (as of November 1, 2019) must obtain and upload a signed permission form from their parent/legal guardian to be eligible for entry.

The deadline to enter is Friday, January 10, 2020.

Entries will be accepted online starting on November 1, 2019.
